Mink Frog
It has a large tympanum and slightly upturned eyes.
Mink frog. Mink frogs are highly aquatic and rarely found on land. They tend to hang out around water lilies which they use as a surface for hopping and to hide from predators. The frog is so named due to its scent which smells like mink. The dorsum is generally green in color with darker green and brown blotching and the belly is a cream yellow or whitethey are sexually dimorphic in that males typically have a bright yellow colored throat while females have a white colored throat and the tympanum of the male is larger than the eye.
The belly is yellowish and the dorsolateral ridges may be prominent partial or absent. They inhabit large cold permanent ponds lakes and slow moving rivers with abundant vegetation as well as sphagnum bogs. Mink frogs live mostly innear lakes and rivers. In minnesota mink frogs are found mainly in the east central and northeastern parts of the state.
